Even though the beginning of the truck championship has been moved to the second week in May this year, a month later than in the previous years, the current European Champion Markus Bosiger does not feel the slightest hint of nervousness. "When I spoke to David last night, I noticed that he begins to fight abstinence symptoms caused by lack of racing. I am a little older man," confirmed Markus his visibly high spirits.
Even though he will defend two champion titles of the Old Continent, the Swiss trucker does not agree with the theory that to win the champion is hard but to defend it is even harder. "Come to ask the same question at the end of this year ´s championship. I have never before defended champion title, so I do not know. I do not believe the championship to be more dramatic than the last one," claimed Markus, remaining faithful to his habit to never suggest his biggest rivals. "I will know more before Jarama. But if you insist, I would say that the potential future European champions include David, Antonio, Jochen… maybe Markus Oestreich, Frankie…"
The preparation for the defense, in Markus Bosiger´s words, runs in the theoretical as well as in the practical level. "I regularly consult Mario and David about things concerning the new racing truck. That is the theoretical bit. The practical one consists in coming to the tracks to test. Then we take a ride and state that everything works in harmony with our expectations."
