This morning at 10:00 a.m. a press conference was held in the Prague hotel Boscolo Carlo IV of the Buggyra International Racing System Team. The conference also included introduction of the new racing special for the 2008 season. The truck, in the words of Mario Kress, technical director of the team, should carry one of the pair of the Buggyra racing drivers, Markus Bosiger – David Vršecký, right to the European champion title. Another goal is defense of the victory in the truck version of the Constructors´ Cup.
After that Mario Kress disclosed to the two dozen journalists, including representatives of the three national television companies, that the Buggyra version was not final. "The beginning of the season will be marked with a quick succession of races in Barcelona and Misano, where we dominated last year. After that there will be a three-week pause allowing some time for testing. We know how to speed up." Mario has a good explanation for his optimistic pre-season visions. "In the course of the double testing at Nogaro Markus covered 160 rounds and David twenty rounds less. The results of telemetries have revealed that we are quicker this year and we should have no problems with reliability."
The same excessive optimism is shared by the third best driver of last year ´s championship, David Vršecký, who is not even scared with the eleven MAN competitors. "It is no good to ponder now whether Antonio or Jochen will be quicker. We have agreed with Markus that our truck is very good," said the winner of five cup races of the past season (Barcelona, Albacete, Nurburgring, Le Mans, Misano). "In addition we tested wet driving at Nogaro as well and Buggyra performed surprisingly well. Of course a race is about something else, but we believe in our trucks and in ourselves too." Despite his innate sense of reality David in not "afraid" of potential champion title. "I will ride to the best of my knowledge, skills and physical abilities in every race. When I was told in Jarama last year that under a certain interplay of coincidences I might win, I was not moved at all. Even though the truth was a little different in the end, I at least tried a situation like that. However, I personally believe that Markus is the hottest candidate for the champion title."
