In the masterly way the Swiss driver of the Buggyra International Racing System Markus Bosiger started defense of his champion title won last year. In the course of the rainy ten-round qualification for the first event of the European Truck Racing Championship in Barcelona he did not find any defeater and added the first ten score points to his account. David Vršecký ended fourth.
The acting European champion made best use of his field position won in the time practice for the wet qualification race. After the first five rounds he was more than 5 second ahead of his rivals. His way off to war was not even delayed by the yellow flag banning overtaking. "Suddenly I had Antonio quite close, but it did not matter to me. My truck worked very well and I had no problem catching the right rhythm," said Markus after the finish, after his arrival 2.7. seconds ahead of his rivals.
David Vršecký achieved the fourth best time in the time practice. After start of the race he got in front of Jochen Hahn and continued third. In the fourth round the German driver overtook David again. "He was quicker, we had a little collision together. As a result my front tire got damaged by his plastic as well as rear my shock absorber." In the sixth round Stuart Oliver overtook David, not even thinking about the abovementioned yellow flag. "I was quite taken aback by his conduct, because they warned us about such a situation at the pre-race briefing. Eventually I overtook Olivier and was eagerly waiting for the finish. My score is 7 points, and so I am quite happy about the current development of the race."
