The opening event of the European Truck Championship left the current European champion Markus Bosiger in a somewhat unusual situation. For the first time in his career in the colours of the Buggyra International Racing System team he has not taken the lead in the championship of the Old Continent. However, he views the situation with optimistic detachment.
"I already said after the Sunday race that David drove in such excellent form that it was no use trying to chase him. That is why I watched for my second position. We are at the very beginning of the championship and the fifteen score points will come in handy," said Markus Bosiger on the phone this morning. In the course of the phone call he also explained the situation at the end of the qualifying race when after overtaking Antonio Albacete he prepared hard time to David Vršecký. In the course of the last round even a minor contact occurred. "I cannot see anything dramatic in this. There is no team strategy, only David and I have agreed orally that neither of us will attack the limits of common sense. In that particular situation I simply thought that David made a small mistake and opened a chance for me to attack him. As I found later in the course of the last round, the space was not sufficient for me to make proper use of it."
At the end of the conversation the Misano race was mentioned too. In Markus´ opinion thee is no reason for dramatic changes. "In Barcelona Buggyras performed excellently, absolute "A" in the sense of school marks, another double behind us. In Misano I plan to drive as usual, doing my best. I hope it will be enough."
