Like last year FIA has again decided to launch a competition of brands, the truck equivalent of the highly appreciated Constructors´ Cup in the area of Formula 1 racing. Following the crushing victory in 2007 the Buggyra International Racing System team, defender of last season ´s title, was appointed the hottest favorite for this season before its beginning. The team colors will be supported again by the time-tested pair of racing drivers Markus Bosiger – David Vršecký. And Buggyra has begun its efforts in this field really uncompromisingly!
The Roudnice team collected the cups for winners of both days of the racing weekend. In addition Buggyra was the only team that could boast of completing all scored races, unlike the competitors of the MAN, Renault and Mercedes teams. "Although our top priority in the past season was to win the individual title, to defeat teams supported by so strong automotive factories has always represented a great challenge for us," confirmed Mario Kress, Technical Director of the team, who considers MAN the greatest rival in the struggle for the overall victory. The same is the opinion of the largest collector of score points in Barcelona, David Vršecký: "Before the beginning of the championship I and Markus agreed that if Belloc got a good car, he would be the black horse of the championship. Jochen Hahn is still a MAN learner, but it is more than likely that thanks to his great experience and capabilities he will score more in the following races that he has so far."
After the opening event in Barcelona the third position is held by Renault, making use of the excellent Saturday performance of Frankie Vojtíšek. And if Markus Altenstrasser begins to collect score points more vigorously, then the struggle for the silver may become a very thrilling plot indeed.
