The top racing driver of the interim ranking of the European Truck Racing Championship, member of the Buggyra International Racing System team, David Vršecký, spent Thursday at the Most autodrome. But not at the steering wheel of his undefeatable racing special but as participant to the finals of 6th competition for the Best Driver of the Magazine Svět motorů [The World of Motors]!
Even though David, together with the elite rally drivers Jan Kopecký and Michal Vorba, was to drive not the truck but a Škoda Octavia RS (types TFSI and TDI CR), he did not hesitate at all whether to participate or not. "In the first place I consider the magazine Svět motorů one of the most prestigious domestic titles with a great contribution to our motor sport offering great benefits to Czech drivers in general," said at the end of the event the current leading European trucker, who drove the guests and participants to the competition for a second year now. "And second I consider events of this type very useful. Even though I have got quite a lot of experience in driving, I still believe that in ordinary road traffic the slogan "Nobody is Perfect" applies more than anywhere else."
David liked the ride in the diesel car with automatic transmission a lot. "I could see cramps in the faces of the people on the passenger seat but I can understand that. They are not probably used to this style of driving," said David, adding that he would not be against buying a Škoda Octavia RS himself right away." "The car behaved excellently on the track even after I switched off the ESP traction control. The brakes was another pleasant surprise. They worked excellently and faultlessly."
David will return to Most over the last weekend in August (30 and 31 August) for the sixth event of the European Truck Racing Championship. For the first time after twelve years a Czech driver will arrive at the North Bohemian track as the leading driver of the championship series. In addition with a racing special labeled Made in Czech Republic!
