Vršecký Following Koloc´s Footsteps!

For the first time in this millennium and after the long twelve years thanks to David Vršecký the Czech fans can look forward to the Most race to seeing a Czech as the leading driver of the interim ranking of the European Truck Championship. David thus follows the tradition of his discoverer, teacher and founder of the Buggyra brand in one, Martin Koloc.
The double European champion of the Race Truck class in 1995-96 came to Most as the leading driver of the interim Championship ranking in the seasons 1994 – 96. He was at his best in 1994, when he managed to win the Saturday qualifying race and both cup races. A year later he was twice second after Ovebrink. In 1996 after a series of penalisations Koloc´s best ranking was seventh position in the Saturday cup race. Paradoxically enough, Martin Koloc enjoyed European Champion title in the seasons that were not the most successful ones for him in Most. "At that time I did not even think of driving at truck races. However, Martin was the Roudnice icon and so I went to see him in Most. I best remember his ride on Saturday in 1996. After the qualifying race he started the cup race form the last row and after the very first round he was perhaps fifth," remembers Vršecký the story of his predecessor. He does not plan yet to ask his idol how to eventually get the best of the Most track. "Without Martin I would never be where I am now. Nevertheless five years ago he stopped racing and started dealing with his health problems. Perhaps I might ask him how to deal with chronically strained neck rather than what strategy to choose for the Most race? Before the race I will rely on Mario Kress and the whole team."
