The two exceptionally successful seasons by no means give us the right to winter sleep, maintains the technical director of the Buggyra International Racing System team and one of the main contributors to the success of the Czech team Mario Kress. Therefore in his opinion the situation after season 2004, when the team fell asleep on the laurels after two champion titles of Gerd Koerber with the result of the excessive self-satisfaction being the "mere" second ranking of Ludovico Faure, should not repeat this year!
The German engineer at the same time confirmed that like in the SRT class in the Race Truck class too Buggyra has functioned on the basis of kind of three-year plans. "In this respect Martin Koloc was a perfect visionary. Just the first champion title in the Super Race Truck class came a year earlier than expected, which obviously nobody minded," said Kress. "In the Race Truck class all has progressed as planned. First the second and the third ranking of Gerd, then last year ´s champion title of Markus Bösiger, this year confirmed by David. Plus two victories in the Constructors´ Cup."
Even though David and Markus had a couple of dramatic exchanges of opinions in the course of the last racing weekends, Mario still considers the highly super-standard relationship between the two truckers as one of the basic assumption of success of the whole team. "The only real conflict occurred in Jarama after the time practice on Saturday. In the course of the argument we agreed to leave both truckers, but especially David, who might have felt hurt by the things that had happened on the track, to let out some steam and sort everything out in their minds. The intention worked perfectly," described Kress the traces of a crisis in the struggle for the champion title. "On the other hand anybody ever sitting in the cab of a race car knows well that racing is about emotions. At least Markus will never more be characterised by the other members of the team as a Robocop, i.e. a man without emotions."
After the celebrations, culminating with the Wednesday extraordinary press conference, the time to work will come again, says Kress. "At the press conference we will introduce new projects to be implemented before the end of the year. In Le Mans we in fact started testing for the next season," revealed Kress. "We are quite clear about what Buggyra will look like in the 2009 season. And we should not forget that even if in Le Mans and in Jarama we rather acted tactically than raced, MAN won three of the last four cup races. We have learned from past experience that underestimation of any warning signal does not pay."
