Bösiger just behind Albacete in Albacete, Vršecký excelled on Sunday
Up-to-now leading rider of championship Markus Bösiger lost his sovereignty on hot Spanish soil and perhaps symbolically was defeated by domestic Albacete on Albacete circuit on Saturday. Also on Sunday Markus’s start was promising and he defeated the Spaniard in direct duel in the qualifying race. New pilot of Buggyra drove to another triumph also in the cup race, but was penalised for the introductory fight with the domestic favourite and had to draw up his loss after driving through the box corridor. Fortunately, Buggyra has one more very capable rider David Vršecký and he showed to the hot-blooded audience how it is to possible to win a race when one starts in the seventh position! David thus compensated the unfortunate Saturday when already in the qualifying ride pilots of yellow vehicles MAN (Körber and Allgäuer) made a punching bag from him and disabled a better result. In spite of that he managed to gain important cup points. After one third of championship Markus keeps overall first position easily, David with loss of eight points moved behind Albacete to the third position. But in the contest of teams Buggyra leads by a steamer – a big steamship.
Not only current champion but also German Hahn eroded Markus’s domination in Saturday time practice. Though there was minimum difference between them, they sent Markus with Buggyra as far as to the second line of qualifying race start field. David secured neighbouring fourth position in the start. And while Markus hanged on to leading couple right after the flying start, David got to the yellow press on the straight before the first curve. Körber pressed against him from the right side, Allgäuer from the other one. Tightly wedged they passed the first curve and then only yellow-brown cloud of dust could be seen. About ten riders from back positions in the start appeared first and only then David’s blue Buggyra. Far behind the whole manicoloured field finally drove Allgäuer, while the race ended for the former pilot of our team Körber. David overtook six cars already in the first round and got to the eighth position. Even with damaged front axle he rushed ahead bravely and was sixth in the middle of the ride. During this time Markus followed the leading Spaniard, he forced Hahn into a small mistake and immediately took his second place. Afterwards David tried to attack at Portuguese Rodrigues in the last meters, but he did not manage to finish the manoeuvre in the short home straight.
”It was horrible, yellow on the right, yellow on the left so I tried to keep directly between them and waited what would it result in. I couldn’t do more in that moment,“ David said after the finish and was very happy to finish the ride with damaged truck at all.
Shortly after start in the cup race, David moved to the fifth place in front of Rodrigues and in the third round he overtook also dangerous Brit Oliver. In half of thirteen ordered rounds he even made the fastest time of the race and erased almost seven second loss behind leading trio Albacete Bösiger and Hahn. Together they formed a quartet that drove away from the others by a difference of class. David tried to attack also in the conclusion of this ride but this time one of the back tyres disagreed and stripped like a snake from its skin. In the post, David only said something about “golden” fourth placement and added: “What a pity I started from the sixth position. Final loss of 2.2 seconds on Albacete is not so big. I thank boys who put the truck into shape again after the qualification!“
Trio Bösiger, Albacete and Hahn fought for leading position in Sunday duel again. German rider gained the position field in the end, whose neighbour in the first line of start field was Markus. David fought with overcrowded track in time practice and the result was sixth time. In addition, he got to the grinding space and decreased one rung to the seventh position. He tried in vain to overtake Allgäuer during the eight rounds, but he was doubling like a hare and closing all gaps. “Egon knew very well I was faster but he simply didn’t let me ahead. I thought I would make it when we would be overtaking someone by one round but he was alert all the time,“ added rather sad David. ”I will try to prove my condition in the last ride!”
He did as he said. In addition, a combination of chances helped him, which with help of excellent performance brought gold fruit. Albacete did an easy start to the main race and suddenly was half a truck in front of Markus. This probably made otherwise calm Swiss soul angry and a collision followed, in which several other trucks participated. Markus appeared first from the cloud, followed unexpectedly by Östreich and in the third position again Buggyra! The joy of our team did not last long, because in the entry to the following round Markus saw a notice ordering him to drive through the box corridor for punishment. This meant a fall to the eighth position. David immediately took the role of revenger and sticked just behind Östreich. He played on nerves of the experienced German champion during six rounds until he totally exhausted his MAN and in the tenth round was forced to surrender. The last three rounds recalled an easy ride in which David looked about his ten second lead on Hahn. Markus finished sixth in the end. ”I have never made this before – to win from the seventh position,“ David said enthusiastically after finish and began to receive congratulations.
