The first event of the Cup series of this year hosted eleven trucks. Gerd started with excellent results in free practices, where he was achieving second best times after Luostarinen. David was around place five. The good condition of both pilots was also apparent in the time practice, where they confirmed the positions from preceding free practices.
The commissioners however adjusted the results of some pilots, which meant that Gerd was moved to place thee and David to place six for the start into the qualifying race. Due to hot weather the team was concerned about excessive exhaust smoke production of the engines and decided to limit the power. Despite that Gerd finished fourth and David sixth.
Both of them also started very well into the main race but after several turns Gerd collided with Tatra of Matějovský and dropped to the end of the group. Although the power of the engine was still limited, already in 13th lap he started to tail David, who was driving fifth at that time. Gerd utilized his long-term racing experience and succeeded to overtake his team mate and to take the points for fifth place. The first appearance of David in the prestigious Super Truck class was really wonderful. He was able to repulse all attacks of Matějovský and to defend the sixth place for himself.
