Bösiger Champion of Europe, Vršecký third

The conclusion of this year’s championship was very difficult and time-consuming and the winner was announced four hours after the end of the last cup race. But ”truth and love“ won over the “evil and hate” and Buggyra has the new Champion of Europe – Swiss pilot Markus Bösiger. Also David Vršecký’s third position is great.

That winning in time practice does not mean first position but the last, far behind the others – this is David’s experience. And that the third best time might mean a start from the fourth row – this is Markus’s experience for a change. This is not a construction of wild fantasy, this is actual happening on Jarama circuit! Organisers simply did their best to help domestic favourite Albacete disable the biggest rivals on the way to the third title. Unwillingly also David’s defect in the introduction of the Saturday time practice played to their hands, where David was in the first position during that time. But then he with uncontrollable vehicle crashed in full speed to the safety barrier and the time practice was even interrupted for approximately forty minutes. But nobody exceeded David’s time and mechanists were very busy to put the vehicle back to order. A message from commissioners announced during the repair works informed that Markus received penalisation of 2 seconds for overtaking some domestic pilot during the interrupted time practice and the ride to boxes. But the top came when David drove to track just before the qualifying race. Just before leaving the box corridor the green light turned into red and the exit was closed. David had to wait before the whole start field would pass by, during which half of the riders was slowed down by the big collision just after the starting line…

During the qualifying race itself Markus also thanks to the fastest circuit quickly got behind Albacete and expertly arrived in the second position. ”Sicher ist sicher,“ Markus remarked and this does not need translation. He could calculate every attempt to overtake Spanish rider in advance. David during the eight rounds overtook twenty vehicles and gained one point for the tenth position.

The cup race was considerably slower, when Markus again without problems got to the second position behind Albacete. This time David had the best time but it was not enough for better than the seventh position. “Car rode fantastically in the beginning but then I began to lose power due to the failure of turbo,” he briefly evaluated in the post. It was clear to him on Saturday – he is third this year!

Markus needed to gain ten points on Sunday to secure his premier title. So he uncompromisingly drove to the time practice and already in the first round made the time which was the winning one. David drove behind him with the difference of less than one hundredth of a second and blue Buggyras stood in the first row of the starting field in the qualifying race.

Markus remained in the first position for four rounds, when a failure of wiring system inactivated him from further fights. David finished second behind German Hahn, Körber was third, Albacete fourth.

Immediately after the start of the cup race David was hit by Alacete and fell to the eighth position. Markus struggled from the fifteenth line and during the introductory round he overtook half of the vehicles. He was ninth in the fourth round and moved to the point that would secure his title. But technology refused the service again and Markus had to resign. The unlucky day of Buggyra continued and one round later the race was over also for David who meanwhile penetrated to the sixth position. Under such situation Albacete could not be better than third for Markus to become the champion. To achieve this, then third Körber would have to overtake the Spaniard, but Gerd finished with loss of mere six tenths of a second behind him. The overcrowded tribunes thus began to celebrate loudly. However, our team submitted a protest because the introductory attack at Vršecký was entirely in violation of the terms of competition about which the FIA officers warned the leading trio before the beginning of the racing weekend. The result of the long negotiation was a ten-second penalisation of Albacete after which he fell to the third position behind Körber. But it is absolutely just decision and Markus Bösiger gained the title deservedly for his achievements in the whole season!!! The success of the team was emphasized not only by the third position of David Vršecký, but also the victory of our riders in the newly introduced Cup of Constructors!!!
