Buggyra gained the title in teams in advance

Maybe it was an accident, maybe fate, but Buggyra gained yet another historical primacy on one of the most famous circuits in the world. Markus Bösiger and David Vršecký secured the title of champions in the competition of teams already before the races in Misano and Jarama, or the “Cup of Constructors”. They won four rides in front of full tribunes. Markus both Saturday rides, David Sunday ones for a change! In the overall order of riders Markus leads before Albacete and David and probably no one else will interfere in the duel of best trio.

Especially David entered into the Saturday duel with time meter with big ambitions. In previous two races of free practice he did best of all and he even exceeded the present record of the circuit twice. But then riders passed briefing where they were strongly warned that they must not cross with wheels the white line at the edge of the track. David therefore drove more carefully and the result was “only” the third position after Albacete and Markus. But the start of qualifying race was unfortunate for us. Albacete, who dictated speed, approached the stoplights very slowly, on the very border of regularity which confused both Markus and David. They were prepared for fast start and before they managed to change gear after green lights, they almost got frozen on the place. Markus fell to ninth and David to sixth position. But they soon took breath and began to proceed. David was behind Albacete and Hahn already in the second round and he even managed to make the fastest time during this chasing ride. In the middle of the eighty-round race Markus got to the fourth position. In that time David searched for gap to overtake Hahn but the German rider was closing all holes, though he was visibly slower. David decided for decisive attack in the last round and he almost got to the second position. But Hahn pushed Buggyra in the last moment to the edge of track and David had to make much effort not to end in big pillar of tires. He had to apply brakes strongly and unwillingly thus made room for Markus to overtake them.

After the start of the cup race Albacete settled in the leading position before Hahn, Markus and David and this foursome drove four rounds in 2 second spacing. Markus moved before Hahn in the fifth round and David was planning a similar manoeuvre. But he had to focus more on overtaking Albacete who slowed down and, in addition, oil was pouring out of his car. Both Buggyras drove through the post in the sixth round together and without restrain approached the fourth “double” in the season. But blood of all in the team froze in the beginning of the last round when David announced a failure of control. Like in Zolder and Most he was thus deprived of the second position in the race just before the end of the race. But this time he managed with great effort to wrest with the steering wheel and he gained points for the fifth position. ”It is bad lack, one would …” and he added a word which could be published only after 10 p.m. “Just now when I least needed it, when Antonio finished without a point. I could decrease his advantage by fifteen points, like this I gained only eight of them.“ Mechanists then completely exchanged servo control in depo, including pump which provides the pressure to it. Seemingly simple operation, which however needs preciseness and skill – features that brought fame to our boys not only in Europe!

And David also rewarded them appropriately. He made the fastest time in Sunday warm-up and in consequent time practice made a new track record when he left second Hahn behind by more than half a second. Markus already in the introduction made a very creditable time – only 15 hundredths of a second behind David – but that was annulled due to a knocked down cone. Markus thus had to settle for the result with which he classified for the second line of the qualification starting field, next to Albacete.

David was busy after start to fight back the attacks of Hahn who seemed to shoot from stoplights a little earlier. But few curves were enough for blue Buggyra to start leading the coloured train. Markus, who was closed by several vehicles after start, fought there fiercely. He even did not have time to count all punches he was getting from all sides. After one of them a dangerous smoke from the left back tire appeared, when the side plastic plate cut into the tire and began to mill a deep groove. David without problems drove for victory before Albacete in the end, who in the sixth round overtook Hahn. Markus toiled considerably more and had to slow down so much in the last round that he defended his fourth position before finishing Brit Levette by mere one second. Due to the pressed program mechanists showed off in full parade again when they in less than an hour prepared Markus’s car for the last cup race.

Markus got to even worse mill after the start of the cup ride. We could even call it a “brutal assassination” rather than a European Cup trucking race. Several MAN trucks played with him to such extent that he remained powerlessly standing on spot even before the first curve; in addition he was turned to the opposite direction. Everybody waited when red flags would appear but show went on, although there was also Spaniard Conejero buried deep in sand near Markus. David driving in the first position only had to worry about not riding down some of the track commissioners who were running around Markus’s Buggyra. The track was free in three rounds and David could focus on keeping his leading position before Albacete followed in distance by Hahn. He thus completed his “golden Sunday” one hundred percent and he could rejoice in his first big title which he gained with Markus for Buggyra in the competition of teams.
