The races at the Italian circuit of Santamonica started in a very promising way for our pilots. Both of them were improving their times in free practices. In the third practice Gerd even made the best time of the day. The results achieved in the time practice were very uniform. First four pilots made the times with a difference of less than one second. In this group of four Gerd was the third one. David on place five was losing 1.3 seconds to Luostarinen from Finland, who was the fastest one, and at the same time was 0.7 second faster than Matějovský on place seven.
The start into the qualifying race was not very successful for our team. Gerd failed to keep the track behind Luostarinen and dropped to fourth place. Later on he also finished the race on the fourth place behind the Finn, Albacete from Spain on place two and Ferte from France on place three. David had particularly bad luck, because he had to retire after the first lap because of engine defect. The mechanics staged a real concert for the full paddock and immediately exchanged whole engine.
The final race at the beginning did not develop very well for our team either. Gerd was driving fourth and later even fifth. David got to the sixth place just after the start. In the half of the first lap he overtook the Tatra of Matějovský. In the end of the race both Buggyra trucks started to drive faster and our pilots forced the competitors to make some mistakes.
The cheering blue crowd of our team witnessed then Gerd finishing on place three and David on place four behind Luostarinen and Albacete. After more than one year Gerd was able to make it to the podium again. David - the newcomer among Super Trucks - achieved his best result of his career. The team lead by Martin Koloc started to harvest first fruits of their hard work.
