Bösiger the king of Most
If the defender of title Antonio Albacete went to Most with the same strategy like in previous two years, he had to weep over the results in the end. Although he was gaining even maximum number of 60 points in the north of Bohemia in previous seasons, he met his conqueror this year! His biggest and in this phase in fact also the only rival in fight for title Markus Bösiger added to his account one point more than him in the final calculation. And it is true also in truck racing that what is at home, counts! Especially when the hero of the Most weekend David Vršecký strengthened his overall third position in spite of Sunday cup failure.
Markus Bösiger’s advantage three enterprises before the end of championship makes 34 points. And what is even more important, Albacete and his Equipo Cepsa know now that Buggyra is able to defeat MAN not only on technical circuits but also on tracks where riders drive at the edge of speed limiter.
Yet the weekend did not begin too well for the team from Roudnice. Antonio Albacete reigned in time practice. Although David Vršecký finished second in the end, present sovereign in training Bösiger had to go to the third line after the penalisation for a stricken cone.
Light of better times appeared in the qualifying race. Vršecký offered a delicacy in the form of errorless start in its very introduction and victory in the end, which interrupted Albacete’s series of ten triumphs in races evaluated by points. Although Bösiger was not as satisfied as Vršecký, he coped with both Hahn and Körber and finished third.
Buggyras definitely did not get lost even in the cup race. Although it was Albacete who after eleven rounds rejoiced in victory, the fact is that the jury contributed to his cup triumph more than this Spanish trucker’s abilities. Members of the jury traditionally overlooked Antonio’s perfect and almost criminal attack at Vršecký in the race introduction, when the small Spaniard shortened his route and knocked down a cone. However, second Bösiger and third Vršecký deserve a credit for their performance. Albacete could realise already on Saturday that the effort to achieve any significant change in points is destined to fail!
Buggyras reigned in Most on Sunday! It is true Albacete made the fastest time in measured rides, but he had no chance against couple Bösiger – Vršecký in qualification. Even though he used his traditional weapon after David Vršecký overtook him – attack at a competitor’s car, far beyond truck racing rules. After finish his team protested and gentlemen from FIA initially disqualified the trio of the fastest riders. Then surprisingly common sense outweighed and jury at least provisionally allowed the protest of both teams.
Sunday cup race then changed into concert of both Buggyras. Markus Bösiger won with his system start – post. David Vršecký was second even in the beginning of the last but one round, but then servo control of his racing special gave a check to his ambitions. Buggyra was thus deprived of the deserved Most double, which does not change anything about the excellent performance of the team from Roudnice, which became a prophet at home after three years again.
