
Buggyras won all rides, David Vršecký in addition became also the champion of Germany
Our team introduced itself in front of 190,000 fans on famous German circuit in the best light. On Saturday Markus Bösiger won both rides before David and on Sunday he was touching the same triumph. If it were not for mass collision after the start of the cup race, he would certainly gain maximum number of points. But David substituted him superbly and successfully took his Buggyra to golden post before fiercely attacking Spanish champion Albacete. Besides, David gained during the whole weekend the most points from all riders and became also the champion of Germany. Overall Markus still has respectable advantage before Albacete, on whom third David gained several points now. He also significantly jumped away from Körber with Hahn in the fourth and fifth positions. Also in the team competition the distance of Buggyra before brands MAN and Mercedes-Benz is great.
Time practice was the foundation of famous Saturday practice. Due to the busy program the time practice was held untraditionally already on Friday. Markus began to lead since the first fierce round; David was second with small loss. Then they both leisurely took a break in boxes and waited if anyone manages to beat their times. This was not an easy task because both our pilots improved last year’s record of domestic Hahn by more than a second. Minutes were running fast and most of the twenty-five riders already put their trucks out of action or even went to depo. The last person who did not want to settle for such fate and tried to gain the first line in qualification start field was Albacete. But he drove his truck too aggressively and in several curves the centrifugal power drew him out of the asphalt. In spite of that the scorecard changed in the last minute. This happened when Markus crossed the target line in the last round. Even German viewers had to applaud appreciatively to his performance, which they expected from their favourites Hahn and Körber – Markus as the first rider in history made time below one minute and 55 seconds! People were falling asleep pleasantly in the house of Buggyras in the night to Saturday…
It is often said that race is not won in the first curve. But this is not certainly so in case of Nürburgring. Just the opposite – who is the most successful in the first curve, has the biggest chances for victory. The track is altered for already several years and after the start follows a right-angled right curve and then a long curve to the left. Especially David was very much aware of this who did not have as successful starts in previous races in Nogaro. This time he responded to the green lights excellently and entered the introductory curve side by side with Markus. In spite of that Albacete behind him attacked and fortunately damaged only David’s back splashboard. Then he hung on to Markus and for two three rounds guarded his lead on Albacete. Then he increased the distance and could enjoy with Markus the first triumph. Domestic “horses” Körber and Hahn finished after Albacete.
Also cup race developed in similar way, but David did not allow Albacete any direct attack after the start. Markus caused a little drama in the very end of the race. He drove through the last curve significantly slower and only slowly was approaching to chessboard flag. Fortunately he was flagged sooner than David came to the same base with wheezing Albacete behind him. ”I was a little surprised by it, I thought Markus wanted to emphasize our triumph and we would ride through the post together,” David said in depo. But truth was entirely different – gearbox betrayed Markus just as he was approaching the post, at the end of the thirteenth round. And it is said number thirteen is unlucky! If the race were one round longer, Markus would end-up without any points! Probably he did not fall asleep as pleasantly in the night to Sunday…
But in the end he probably slept very well, which he confirmed with another improvement of his record in time practice, though only by three-hundredths of a second. Dramatic fight for the remaining place in the first line resulted in favour of Albacete, who outweighed David by eight- hundredths. This time the start was without hard attacks; only David had to defend his third position by all his might against Hahn. Full tribunes drove Hahn but David did not hesitate and kept an ideal track. In the middle of the race he was ahead and it seemed the duel is over. But two rounds later the German rider approached to almost contact again. David immediately reacted and drove away from Hahn again. “I can say I rove for certainty because the track was quite gummed. But when I saw Hahn approaching again, I could afford to accelerate a little. But it was not worth to chase Albacete, I did not have as big reserve, he would have to make a serious mistake,“ rather satisfied David added to the qualifying race.
However, Markus did not close the fantastic weekend with his fourth victory. After the start of the cup race he got to mass collision and had to resign with damaged steering and slit back tire. Also Hahn with Austrian Allgäuer ended in similar way. David took the responsibility for the reputation of the brand on himself and slipped through the scrummage to the first position. Only Albacete caught his drive and tried to overtake David for full thirteen rounds. But our champion did not make a mistake or a gap and rejoiced in great victory. Moreover he made his personal record because he has never gained 52 points in his career before. The more surprised he was when organisers came after two hours and asked him to go to verdict again. This time he took from the hands of former holder Gerd Körber as the new owner the title of “Champion of Germany” – including a beautiful cup.
