“Who will stop Bösiger?“ – stunned Europe asks
Although journalists wrote about a fabulous entry of Buggyra to the 23rd year of European Truck Racing Cup after the introductory race in Spanish Barcelona, probably none of our competitors supposed the graceful drive would continue already in the second race in Belgian Zolder. However, the new “horse” of our team Markus Bösiger showed everyone the way a real Swiss watch works and gained the maximum number of points. He amplified his four victorious rides by the fastest times in both time practice races. David Vršecký also did a great job, but an incredibly bad luck deprived him of the second position in the end of Sunday qualifying race. But then he showed to full tribunes how it is possible to gain points for fifth position when one starts on the twentieth position. David still keeps behind leading sovereign Markus and Buggyra dominates also in the contest of teams.
Buggyra celebrated “double” already on Saturday, when David finished right after the sovereign of the day Markus in the cup race. Markus stood three times on the tracks and three times celebrated victory! David achieved the third time in time practice but shortly after the start of qualifying race he did not manage to get behind Markus and consequent clockwise curve took him to the fifth position behind Hahn, Albacete and Vojtíšek. However, blue Buggyra was stronger than red Renault and already during the first round David appeared behind Spanish rider. The loss of three seconds seemed big but five rounds later David rode behind the bumper of sitting champion. During this time he also made the fastest round of the race. But smoke appeared from back brakes several times instead of the expected attack and David had to slow down. Lead to his former team partner Gerd Körber, who rode in the fifth position was sufficient and again guaranteed placement in the second line. “It was a pity, the car drove devilishly fast before brakes began to overheat. Probably it wouldn’t be a problem to overtake Antonio,” David evaluated the situation after finish.
Two hours later however he got the full flavour of not only Albacete but also Hahn. Already on starting field he pretended attack through centre and right after German rider closed the gap, he drove around the opposite side. In addition he managed to avoid in the last moment Albacete who also attacked from the opposite side. And while the couple of Buggyras rushed ahead, only Spanish rider could keep the devilish speed. But even he lost his breath in the end and David presented him eight seconds in the last three rounds. Other scattered riders finished with half a minute and gradually bigger and bigger loss.
showed a fantastic ride on Sunday, when in qualification he chased Hahn in the second position for several rounds. Hahn was evidently slowing him down but on narrow Belgian track it was difficult to find a place for safe overtaking. David achieved it before famous curve ”Villeneuve“, where by beautiful manoeuvre made German rider apply brakes. Then he only levelled truck to the correct track and drove behind his team partner who held conductor’s baton over the situation on the circuit. In two rounds David gained lead of more than 3 seconds and also made the fastest round of the race. Mechanists already lined at signal wall to greet their victorious boys but only Markus arrived. Vojta Loupal translated the message from transmitter that the failure of differential gear prevented David from another “double”. In the end David was qualified on the twentieth position, in spite of it he gained 5 points to the contest of teams for Buggyra.
Start from the 20th position is not easy in Zolder but David managed to overtake 9 trucks during the first round and gradually moved ahead during the following rounds. Although overtaking of stronger competitors demanded much effort, he lost only duel with Körber for fourth position in home straight. Thanks to the absolute triumph of Markus the team rejoiced because we kept the first positions in individual riders and increased our lead in the contest of teams again.
