Buggyra Technology Center

Martin KolocThe godfather of Buggyra projects is twofold European champion Martin Koloc. He is the first driver who won the European Truck Racing Cup for the Czech Republic. Martin started his racing career in the spring of 1993, when he took part in the first Ford Fiesta Cup. However, he concentrated solely on truck racing for the rest of the season.

Since 1994, Martin Koloc had driven a Finnish SISU truck (except in 1997, when he sat behind the wheel of Praga TN 21.420). Immediately in 1994, he finished second in the European Cup, just six points short of the winner. He won the European Championship twice, in 1995 and 1996, finishing second a year later, and third in 1998. In the following season, his racing license was suspended for 18 months, allegedly for unauthorized modifications to the speed recorder. That time, he was first in interim results. Following the suspension, he became an unofficial advisor of the team.

For this reason and due to health problems, Martin Koloc decided to end his racing career, and to focus all his attention on building a truck with a "homemade" engine that would be competitive in the Super Race Truck category. The result of his and many co-workers' hard work was the erection of the manufactory for the first Czech truck powered by a handmade engine named Buggyra Technology Center (BTC) in the beginning of the year 2001.

The first prototype Buggyra MK001 left the BTC in the spring of the same year. That was a big step into the darkness. And so there was no wonder that the Buggyra team ended up in 8th position in the first season. However, we must mention the FIA award for the biggest contribution to Super Race Truck category in European Championship 2001. No one would have even imagined that one year later the same manufactory will leave two trucks (MK 002) more and one of them will win the first historical European championship in SRT for Czech Buggyra.
