A track that Lamborghini favours: Jiří Mičánek's team awaits weekend at the Red Bull Ring
For the second round of the circuit FIA CEZ Championship, the Mičánek Motorsport powered by Buggyra team will compete again. The cars will be deployed in both sprint and endurance races. In endurance, Jakub Knoll and Josef Záruba are aiming for a second victory, while Libor Dvořáček wants to improve on his third-place finish from Balaton Park in the sprints.
"We are going to a track we like. We have a lot of data from it, and the Huracáns are working great here. We will therefore want to repeat or improve on our results from Balaton Park," recalls the team manager Jiří Mičánek Jr. of the successful start to the season.
Two cars have travelled to Austria again. One will be driven by Libor Dvořáček in the sprints, while the other will be driven by Jakub Knoll and Josef Záruba in the endurance race. For Jakub Knoll, who joined the tandem with Josef Záruba after five years, this is a race that he is really looking forward to. "The Red Bull Ring is my favourite circuit, not only in terms of this year but globally. The same is true historically for Lamborghini, which has a chance to fight with the GT3 here," says Jakub Knoll.
Josef Záruba confirms this, adding that in their category, the pair will want to build on their victory at Balaton Park and concentrate on the prestigious overall standings, even though they are not announced and scored. "In Hungary, we stayed close to fourth place; we would definitely be happy if we could move into the top three here," says Záruba.
He is looking forward to the second race with Knoll. "We already had a great run in Hungary. It's as if the five-year break didn't even exist. So, in combination with the fast track, where we'll have an advantage over the GT3 in terms of power, it could work. On Thursday, we lost time because of the track conditions, but we have a lot of data from here from earlier, so it won't be a handicap," he added.
Libor Dvořáček will then target better results in the GTC category than he did at Balaton Park. There, his second position slipped through his fingers in the last quarter of the race after a mistake that sent him spinning. He will now try to avoid that. "It's a good track that suits us. Unlike Balaton Park, I know it. On the other hand, the rivals will be similar," says the Mičánek Motorsport powered by Buggyra driver.
The weekend at the Red Bull Ring will conclude a six-week series of races that the Mičánek Motorsport powered by Buggyra team has completed. In addition to the aforementioned weekend in Hungary, the team has completed two Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe races, where they scored a win and two second places, and two weekends of hill climb races, from which Jiří Mičánek brought home four podium finishes, including two wins.
