Buggyra heading into clouds!
Buggyra’s fleet welcomes a new addition and also a new place to meet its fans. The airplane IL-18D sits on a rest area at D10 highway between Mladá Boleslav and Bakov nad Jizerou. Unlike the rest of the Buggyra Zero Mileage Racing fleet, this Ilyushin is for public use all year long.
A businessman František Vágner leads the whole project together with Buggyra Zero Mileage Racing, and he has decided to allow people the opportunity to experience something unique, that is not usually possible. This new project of an entertainment rest area if called BUGGYRA AIR and it has been unveiled on the 51st kilometre of D10 highway, between Mladá Boleslav and Bakov and Jizerou. And this four-engine propeller airplane has been a unique refreshment place on the highway for the past 34 years.
“Unfortunately, it didn’t get enough maintenance and there was a real risk of closing it down. So, when there was an offer to buy the place, I took it under my wings with a plan to renovate it and make it a nice place for everyone again. That’s why we have a playground here, we’ve improved the food quality and we intend to show all kinds of machines here. At the moment, we have several American veterans – emergency vehicles (ambulances, fire cars, police cars) and today, we’ll be adding also a Buggyra Speed Truck, in which Aliyyah Koloc has just recently broken two worlds records,” said František Vágner, an owner of the renovated place at 51st kilometre of D10 highway, about his vision.
“I’ve liked the idea of combining our business activities together with Buggyra since the beginning. Martin just had to promise that apart from a display for his racing trucks, he won’t require us to show also all the trophies, because the capacity of the plane would be reduced significantly,” joked Vágner. „We’re just finishing. The plane is completely in Buggyra’s colours. The outside area and exposition are fully functional, but we still don’t have an exact date right now. However, we’ll celebrate Buggyra’s success at Most, which I totally expect, in this plane.”
The team owner Martin Koloc then also shared his thoughts on the new partnership, in which he sees that Buggyra has to keep expanding its portfolio, which is already global. “Buggyra Technology Centre has been around for the last 20 years and it’s still the same. Also, adding a plane is fitting right now, considering future our plans, that I can’t discuss right now. It’s convenient and symbolic,” said Koloc.
“At the first place, we were interested in a project, that would enlighten people, especially families with children. Also, we’ve gained a base from where we can start all our travels, especially to Dakar. And we’re planning to do some presentations of our activities and we hope that it becomes a place where we can celebrate our triumphs. Moreover, we can be proud of having the best drivers’ line-up of any team in the Czech Republic. Tomáš Enge, Jaroslav Janiš, David Vršecký, Adam Lacko, they’re the best of the best and together they make the perfect team. They’ll be helping a lot to our younger drivers Téo Calvet, Aliyyah and Yasmeen Koloc to get the best possible results.“
And if you did not happen to be around today, there is no need to worry. The Speed Truck will remain on a display near the plane and there will be many more opportunities to stop by, take a picture, and even get a signature from the drivers or to talk to them.
