Mičánek Motorsport powered by Buggyra goes for the title in Brno and prepares a show for partners
The goal for the last weekend of the FIA CEZ Championship is clear. The pair of Jakub Knoll and Josef Záruba aim to bring their quest for the endurance title in the GTC class to a victorious end. However, they will have to fight their team rivals for the race win. All this will happen in front of hundreds of partners and fans who will come to support the Mičánek Motorsport powered by Buggyra team.
"It's one of the most important weekends of the year for us and definitely the home highlight of the season," says Jiří Mičánek Jr., who is looking to bring home another championship title for the Mičánek Motorsport powered by Buggyra team. Just like Jáchym Galáš, who had to defend himself from team rival Matěj Pavlíček a year ago, the pair of Jakub Knoll and Josef Záruba will face a dangerous opponent on the track, with a Huracán in the same colors. Brno can look forward to a heated duel.
Bronislav Formánek will be in the team's second car as part of training for the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe series and will be joined by the experienced Filip Sládečka. The upcoming race of the domestic series will also be a Czech-Slovak race for the Mičánek Motorsport powered by Buggyra team. "Filip knows the Huracán, so the connection makes sense. I believe they will be very fast and that we will see a nice duel," says Jiří Mičánek Jr.
The two crews—good friends in fact—are already bantering from afar. "Broněk is looking forward to giving us a tough time, the guys are pumped up and want to beat us. Anyway, we will go without emotions," reveals Josef Záruba. Even if they have to bow down to the Formánek-Sládečka duo in the end, it should not deprive them of the title. "I'm looking forward to it being an interesting comparison and it will give the race some excitement," says Jakub Knoll.
Bronislav Formánek has two good reasons to start in Brno. "We have a long break in the Super Trofeo, so I'll use that to train. And I'm looking forward to racing against Pepa again, I haven't done that in a long time. We've been rivals for ten years, and even though he's faster in theory, we can get lucky. I don't like to lose," laughs the team stalwart. He will also face his coach and friend in a pair of sprint races.
Filip Sládečka will be back behind the wheel of a racing Huracán after five years, having competed in Super Trofeo Europe in the 2019 season. "I'm still coaching and interacting with the Huracán as an engineer, so I won't have to get used to it too much, even though I haven't raced it for a long time. I'm glad that Jirka and I came to an agreement. We're friends with the whole team, so I'm looking forward to the whole weekend and the friendly environment," said Sládečka.
Hundreds of fans of the Mičánek Motorsport powered by Buggyra team will be watching the heated battle across three races during the weekend. "We are preparing a great setup and programme for them again, just like our parent Buggyra, which is also coming to Brno," says Jiří Mičánek.
