Buggyra is preparing for Dakar

While the truck section of Buggyra is dominating on racing circuits, the Buggyra Technology Centre is finishing preparations for Dakar Rally, which is set to take place in Saudi Arabia for the 2nd time.

When the team manager Jan Kalivoda said that the only certainty at Dakar is that nothing is guaranteed until you finish the final stage, maybe he anticipated that the time of total uncertainties is coming. “According to all available information, it seems like the Dakar Rally is going to go ahead in January. Anyway, we enjoyed a lot with the coronavirus last time. As far as we know, the organisers intend to do one big Dakar quarantine, which we don’t mind, as we’re used to it from home.”

And despite the Dakar Rally 2021 is getting closer and closer, the race engineer Robin Dolejš has revealed that just yesterday, the team was testing a brand-new thing in Milovice, Czech Republic. “We’re not in just to participate. Our goal is to be at least in the TOP 10, and Tatra Phoenix II is not a truck build exactly for sand. We tried something. And while Milovice place has not much in common with sands in Saudi Arabia, the preliminary testing went very well. But that’s all I can say at the moment,” confirmed Robin.

“When David and Robin approached me, I was a bit sceptical. But I must say that it’s working better than expected,” said Martin Šoltys after the testing. The Czech driver is now also focusing much more on the physical preparations. “It’s not like I underestimated that last time, but I was on the limit. I don’t even want to think about not going, so I’m working hard on myself.”
