Podium Was Close...

Fourth rank was the result of David Vršecký in the opening cup race at Nürburgring. Only a couple more laps would have made it a podium rank after a race on the wet road.

Because of the persistent rain the start was assisted by the yellow flags. David started from the fourth position. After the third lap the pilots ranked in the lead as follows: Albacete, Lacko, Östreich, Vršecký. But in the course of the very next lap the race ended for Markus Östreich. "I suddenly held the third rank but I knew it would be very difficult to keep it.  I had Jochen Hahn behind my back, and he was driven forward by the domestic environment," described David the first half of the race. Despite that he was better than the acting European champion till the ninth lap when Jochen could not be held back any longer. "I might have followed the example of some other pilots and adopt the totally defensive style of driving but I do not think that is what racing is about. I wanted to “cling” to Jochen and try to attack his rank towards the end of the race, but his truck worked better on the drying road. I hope for dry weather in the course of the next race,” added David after the race. The Russian pilot Yuri Yegorov raced with the second Buggyra. He finished one lap later than the winning group, ranking at the beginning of the third ten. “Regarding the wet surface and the difficult circuit I consider each completed lap a success. And so I am satisfied," said the Russ after the race.
