The best possible! Jiří Mičánek leaves Ústecké 21 with two 2nd place finishes and he takes his hat off to fans

Jiří Mičánek from Mičánek Motorsport powered by Buggyra team has acquired two trophies for 2nd places in Group 2 from a legendary hill-climbing event Ústecká 21. He did well at the challenging track, and even enjoyed success in the overall classification, as he finished in 9th and 8th positions, respectively.

“This result is the best possible, considering what we can achieve in a car build for circuit racing against competitors with hill-climbing specials,” says delighted Jiří Mičánek, who achieved his success driving team’s Lamborghini Huracán ST EVO2. “The Ústecká 21 track is very long and difficult, yet we managed to finish only within seconds behind the leader of our class,” explains Mičánek.

On Saturday, Mičánek and his Huracán just narrowly missed the magical line of two minutes in the first run. He was just 1.46 seconds behind, on a track that is 3.65 kilometres long and the drivers climb 225 metres. Meanwhile, most others were losing to the Mičánek Motorsport powered by Buggyra driver.

For Jiří Mičánek, it was the first outing in this popular hill-climbing event. Apart from a challenging and long track, the Czech driver was surprised mostly by the atmosphere. “It was reminding me of the Grand Prix events at the old Brno circuit. Some people were camping around the track since Friday and spent the whole weekend there. And they took care of that special atmosphere,” says Mičánek, who thoroughly enjoyed the fans and the work of the organisers.

Among them is also a widow, after a long-time organiser of the event, which now carries his name – Miroslav Urban. They used to be friends with Mičánek’s family, and today’s racing driver used to spend a part of a summer holiday with the family. “I met with Mrs. Urban, I brought her flowers, and it was nice to meet her, including her daughters, who are adults now,” looks Jiří Mičánek back to the weekend, and he is sure that if there are no clashes with other events, he is going to return next year again.

But now, the Mičánek Motorsport powered by Buggyra is preparing for testing at Misano, Italy. There, on June 22-23, the team will be preparing for Round 3 of the prestigious Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe, which takes place at the beginning of July.
