Winning duel with GT3: Mičánek Motorsport powered by Buggyra dominated ESET Cup endurance

Jakub Knoll and Josef Záruba in the ESET Cup endurance race at the Lausitzring not only dominated their category but also left their rivals with faster GT3 cars behind. The race, which for Mičánek Motorsport powered by Buggyra, started brilliantly with Jakub Knoll and was brought to a victorious end by Josef Záruba, who held off the attacks of Dennis Waszek in his BMW.

Záruba and Knoll dominated the third race of this season and plan to take the GTC class title at the end of it. "We confirmed our ambition at the Lausitzring, and if nothing happens, I believe that at the end of the season we will achieve this goal," says Jiří Mičánek Jr., the manager of Mičánek Motorsport powered by Buggyra. "The overall victory in the ESET Cup and over GT3 cars is something extra for us. Both drivers put in a great performance, and what Jakub did, Pepa Záruba defended perfectly," said Mičánek.

The endurance category had to deal with an unusual format of the race weekend. It was reduced to a single day, with only five hours from the first training to the start of the race. "It was very straightforward, but in the end, it was no problem. Even though I hadn't raced on this track for nine years and even 18 years on the full configuration, I got back into it quickly. Although I was surprised at how bumpy it was," described Jakub Knoll.

A very good pit stop moved the Lamborghini Huracán ST EVO2 to first place, and it was up to Josef Záruba to keep it ahead of the oncoming GT3 specification cars. About eight laps from the end, Dennis Waszek in the BMW Trevor Racing was bumper to bumper with him. "The GT3 works great in the corners, so it was hard to make sure he didn't surprise me somewhere," said Josef Záruba of the dramatic finale. In the end, he managed to hold off the faster car. "It was great racing. Fair, tough, and with a happy ending for our team," Záruba said.

Behind the wheel of the Huracán for Saturday's sprints for Mičánek Motorsport powered by Buggyra was Libor Dvořáček. In the GTC class, he took the podium with a second-place trophy in both races.
